Mr. Hishaam Emeran is the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) and a seasoned transport specialist with over 25 years’ experience across the public and private sectors. His career spans transportation planning, engineering, and executive management, with ten years in private-sector transportation and consulting, and fifteen years in senior public-sector leadership roles.

Mr. Emeran brings extensive expertise in leading complex transport organisations and has established strong working relationships with key engineering, infrastructure, and transportation stakeholders across the industry. His leadership is underpinned by a deep understanding of integrated transport systems and large-scale public service delivery.

He is widely regarded as a thought leader in the transportation sector, having contributed to multiple transport conference publications and serving as a guest lecturer in rail transportation at the University of Cape Town. Mr. Emeran is deeply committed to transforming South Africa’s integrated public transport system to support inclusive economic growth and broader societal development.
